Le Game Boy Color est une console portable de Nintendo. Il est le successeur du Game Boy, la troisième console portable de Nintendo ainsi que, par certains aspects, associé à la Nintendo 64. Nintendo décida de créer une deuxième génération de consoles portables. Les concurrents, eux, disposaient d'un écran de couleur (Game Gear de SEGA, Lynx d'Atari).
